I provide psychotherapy and counselling services including creative arts psychotherapy, play therapy, trauma, addiction, mediation, and support and advocacy for the LGBTQI+ community. I work with people of all ages and abilities. I work with the special needs community, including Aquired Brain Injury, CP, neuromuscular disorders, stroke and chronic pain. I have also worked with dancers, actors, and professional companies, and I've worked with horse riders and sometimes their horses in jumping and dressage.
I studied dance at the Laban Centre, New Cross, London, under Lisa Ulman and Marian North. Movement and dance have always been my passion; they led me to research the body/mind/spirit connection, neurobiology, education, learning, behavior and human potential. I’ve had the good fortune of studying with some of the finest teachers, including Arnold Mindell, Russel Delman and Anat Baniel. In the late 1980s I moved to California where I began studying Feldenkrais; this changed my life and outlook on learning, movement and dance. I studied the Anat Baniel Methods® for Children and The Embodied Life™ with Russell Delman. I began to integrate somatics into my psychotherapy practice. ‘Movement is life’ for me and is the first expression of communication in babies and children. I have spent my adult life working in diverse communities and countries with children, adolescents and adults, in the youth service, formal education and informal groups. The Feldenkrais Method® informs my work; it has shown me amazing outcomes in my own life and work and through my students’ lives.
